Dr Jart+ Micro pH Foam Cleanser (120ml for $22, but can be bought cheaper on eBay)
A relatively gentle gel cleanser. I actually enjoy using it. It foams a bit (not a lot, but still enough), I don't find it stripping at all. Removes dirt well. Can tingle the eyes a bit, but it doesn't cause any adverse reaction like sensitivity. Overall, a pleasant product.
Dr Jart+ Peptidin Radiance Serum (40ml for $48)
The never ending story of me and peptides: they don't really have a visible effect on the skin, yet I still want to believe that they do something! This product is no exception. I am truly puzzled -- if anyone has seen clear results from this product (or it's blue sister), do let me know. I am still searching.
Dr Jart+ Ceramidin Cream (50ml for $48)
This cream is for normal to dry skins. It is supposed to help with moisture retention and strengthening of skin barrier. It is a thicker cream but it does feel soft on the skin. I do enjoy it but honestly, I am not over the moon completely. I like that it doesn't leave me oily but a little bit more moisturisation would be nice. Probably better for slightly warmer weather.
Dr Jart+ Focuspot Dark Circle Micro Tip Patch ($18 for 2 pairs)
Alright, so Dr Jart+ has created their micro-needle patches for the under-eye area (which are nothing novel, by the way). So, what are they? They are hyaluronic acid micro tips infused with Vitamin A, supposedly melting deeply into skin to reduce the appearance of dark circles. You have to wear them for at least 2 hours, or, as it says on the packaging, have them on during your sleep. However, when I read the reviews of people who did the latter method, I quickly realised that "maybe I shouldn't try that". So, 2 hours it is. They wear comfortably, no complaints there. I have now tried both pairs, and unsurprisingly, I didn't see much change in the dark circles. The patches leave a slightly yellowish tint under the eyes (from the ingredients) (which does disappear, worry not). I will not repurchase these particular patches, although they are reasonably priced (cf with Rodial).
Dr. Jart+ Cicapair Tiger Grass Color Correcting Treatment (50ml costs $52) (Korean Beauty)
It is indeed a very interesting product serving many different purposes. First of, it is a colour corrector-- turning from green to beige (we don't know how it will look like on deeper skin tones). However, in our opinion, it is actually not its most important function. We believe that its most important property lies in Centella asiatica which calms irritation and inflammation, and reduces redness (over time, of course). The product also creates a shield to not let environmental aggressors penetrate the skin. We use this cream after a serum but before a moisturiser. Overall, great product. We will continue using it.
Dr Jart+ Cicapair Tiger Grass Re.Pair Serum (30ml for $46)
This is the sister product to Dr Jart+' correcting treatment. It is a serum of green colour, and is a of slight jelly consistency. As you all know, Centella Asiatica calms the skin-- especially from redness and irritation. It is wonderful on acne prone skin. I love using it when my skin is acne prone, and I truly see a difference. It absorbs well, but doesn't leave the skin dry. I often apply it as a second serum -- more as a treatment serum, and then put moisturiser on.
Product review:
Dr Jart+ Shake & Shot Rubber Hydro Mask ($10)
If the last face mask was not very well known to most of you, this one is rather the opposite. Disclaimer right here: I don't like peel off masks-- they seem to never really hydrate my skin. But this said "Hydro", so, I decided to give it a (Shake&) Shot. There are two packets inside-- you mix them all together in the provided cup, and with the provided plastic spatula, put the mixed product onto your beautiful face (because Christina Aguilera said that "we are beautiful"). This mask is supposed to "moisturize and revitalize the complexion. The Hydro Mask ampoule contains a cocktail of Vitamin B5 (panthenol) and Expert Moist Complex, rich in amino acids, to help strengthen skin’s moisture barrier" (Sephora). Okay dokey. First of all, you get too much product for one application, which to me feels a bit like a waste. Furthermore, you cannot really apply a thin layer with the provided spatula-- better use your fingers. But those were the only two "negatives". The mask is absolutely amazing. It is made out of wobbly rubber that doesn't tighten your face. Once you take it off, your skin feels amazing, and even slightly "oily" (in a good nourishing way). I bought other similar masks while now in Russia, so we will see whether other Korean brands can deliver similar results.
