Sóley Grædir Hand Cream (50ml for €20)

Our first review of an Icelandic skincare product. Yohoo! This is what Sóley has to say about this product: "pure organic moisture for dry and tired skin. This daily hand cream nourishes and revitalizes weathered and cracked hands. GRÆÐIR hendur contains a powerful blend of handpicked, wild Icelandic healing herbs following an old recipe that has been in Soley’s family for generations". I am not sure what herbs the cream contains, but I don't really find it that moisturising. The cream is more on the liquid-y side, smells of herbs. If you put a blueberry size amount (big blueberry), it soaks in rather fast. If you put more, your hands will feel slightly buttery for about 30 minutes, then the cream will fully sink in. Bottom line: when you wake up in the morning, the hands feel dry. So as a day hand cream, it might be okay, but not more.

Sóley steinEY mineral mask (60ml för £29)

This is a clay mask from Iceland made out of mineral rich volcanic clay from Eyjafjallajökull (if you can pronounce that, you should consider moving to Iceland). It also contains hand-picked wild Icelandic birch that nourishes and promotes the skin’s natural equilibrium. So, what does it do? It "regulates and balances skin, stimulates cellular metabolism, strengthens tissues and reduces the signs of aging. This facial mineral mask normalises skin texture by removing dead skin cells, toxins and impurities, which subsequently eases the absorption of applied nutrients and moisture". You mix 1/2 teaspoon of the powder with 1/2 of water (I personally used 1 teaspoon of water) and your mask is done. I honestly enjoyed how the mask was drying down. It dried down to a very smooth and even layer-- I kept touching my face because I really liked the feel. I also love how this product is natural-- with only 3 ingredients. That's it. I like it, and will continue using it.
