Peter Thomas Roth Max Sheer All Day Moisture Defense Lotion SPF 30 (full size 50ml for $42)
Although PTR had good intentions when creating this product, the result on my dry skin is less than perfect. It is oil free, has ceramides, aloe, vitamin A, C and E, and pro vitamin B5, and is allegedly suitable for all skin types. I would strongly disagree with the last part. If you have very dry skin, this product might be for you, otherwise, you will look like a glowing blob of oil. Otherwise, it's not that bad. It's a creamy lotion, works well, but I would still stay away.
Peter Thomas Roth Anti-aging Cleansing Gel (full size 250ml for $38)
With glycolic acid, salicylic acid, peach extract (yes, it smells peachy), and other extracts. PTR claims that this product has "advanced exfoliating and cleansing action [which] helps diminish the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and other signs of aging". It is supposed to effectively remove makeup and improve skin texture. Now, whether you believe that a product that you will have on your face for maximum a minute can truly diminish appearance of fine lines etc is really up to you. This is not a bad product at all, but I am a bit sceptical when companies make such grandiose claims. For me, I would need to have a product on for at least 5mins to believe that it is actually exfoliating the surface of my face. Plus, I would actually need to know the strength of the acids-- that plays a big role. Since this product doesn't make my skin tingle even one bit, I have a hard time believing that the strength of the acids is high. But it smells really lovely! Like, really peachy. I love it. When it comes to removal of makeup, however, the brow-pomade-on-wrist test showed a 90% success rate-- but it didn't get rid of the deeper embedded bits of the pomade. Furthermore, after I rinse the product off, my skin doesn't appear "brighter". It's just clean, that's it. So yes, $38 for such a product is a bit steep, don't you think?
Peter Thomas Roth Un-Wrinkle 24k Gold Mask (6 pack for ca.$80)
If you think that this mask will smooth out all of your wrinkles in one go, we are ready to disappoint you. Infused with neuro-peptides and peptides, 24K and Hyaluronic Acid. (You know, we feel like Hyaluronic Acid currently is being included everywhere-- same as water. But that was just a thought). We personally didn't see any immediate difference, but then again, that would be a bit weird as the neuro-peptides and peptides probably work in more long-term kind of way. At least, we can say that we haven't had any bad reaction to the product yet. The only problem is that the sheet mask is rather thick, so when a part of it dries down, it immediately detaches itself from the skin.
Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Mask (150ml)
This mask retails for $58, but when you think about how much product you get, the price is actually reasonable. This is a multi-tasking product: intensive skin resurfacer; exfoliator (pumpkin enzyme); peeler (AHA); polisher (aluminium oxide); revitaliser; smoother etc. And you know, when I first used it on myself, I hated it. It left my skin very textured and uneven. But my dad absolutely loved it (yes, dad asks us to put masks on him-- he is spoiled). And my mom loved it. So, I was in the minority, and decided to give this mask to mom instead. But then I "stole" it back, to give it a second try. And guess what? Yes, it works. It basically did everything it promised to do. Oh, and the smell is nice too. So, if you are like me, and didn't like the mask once-- try it again. Give it a second chance.
Product review:
Peter Thomas Roth Blue Marine Algae Intense Hydrating Mask (full size 150ml for £44)
We love the Pumpkin mask from PTR, so we were going in with similar expectations for this mask. Instead, we were left wondering the following: "why was this even made?"; "Has anyone tested this before making a decision to sell it to customers?"; and "what the actual f***?" "Featuring Blue Marine Algae and Tea from the Jeju Islands of Korea, this revolutionary mask coats the complexion in highly focused and specialised Antioxidants and nutrients that tackle the dryness and drench thirsty skin in much needed care and moisture", says PTR. This mask dried into the skin and my face wasn't moisturised, almost at all. Really? For £44? Are you kidding me?
Product review:
Peter Thomas Roth Irish Moor Mud Mask (full size 150ml for $58)
This mask is as black as night. It is supposed to "draw out dirt, oil and grime as it infuses skin with moisture, vitamins, essential minerals and potent anti-oxidant benefits. With the highest level of organic content in the world, 9,000 year-old black Moor Mud is harvested by hand from the Irish countryside and combined with Hijiki Seaweed, Volcanic Ash and Activated Charcoal for powerful cleansing while helping to minimize the appearance of pore size, fine lines and wrinkles. Your skin is left looking pure, fresh, hydrated and radiant". But I am digging it. I like my purifying masks to dry down but this one doesn't, so I don't get to see how much oil it has removed from my face. On the other hand, the mask is hydrating, and will be suitable even for dry skins. I honestly tried to understand the mask-- I simply don't get it. Yes, my skin feels plump and hydrated after it-- but I am not sure about the whole purifying effect. It's a good mask, but I am blind to its full potential.
