Laura Mercier Mood Lights Face Illuminator Trio

This trio of highlights came out last holiday season, and of course, we had to have it. We paid around £40 ($52 in US) for this creamy palette. Laura Mercier describes this as "long-wearing, buildable and versatile highlighting powders that provide a natural-looking, radiant, allover glow". You get your white-rainbowy, pink and golden highlight in one place. For this brand, it's really an amazing value. The colours are a bit more sophisticated, especially the duo-chrome rainbow shade. If you have this palette, well done for snapping up a great deal. By the way, this palette is still available for purchase on the official LM site.

Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder ($39)

This is the most well known loose powder of all time, ain't that true? It has micro-refined silica and soft-focus light-reflecting particles, which instantly blur imperfections and minimises the appearance of pores. It is very fine milled, which we love. So here is the Tea: It does have some colour, so it's not as translucent as you think. And we don't really like using it under our eyes. Something doesn't work there 100%. But other than that, it is amazing. We use it on our smile lines and the jaw line. No complaints. Get it, but play with it and see what works for you.

Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder for under eyes (4g)

It is a lot smaller container than the original LM loose powder. Retails at $28. Is supposed to be brighten and not settle into fine lines. This powder is a lot lighter, like, white, in comparison to the original powder. Our verdict? We didn't like it. It made our eyes super-unrealistically white, and since we are not ghosts, we don't want to look like that. Furthermore, it is actually drying, and over time, makes your under eye skin look old. Maybe it will work for you, but it didn't work for us.

Laura Mercier Flawless Lumière Radiance-Perfecting Foundation (£36)

Laura, let's have a talk. This simply cannot be the lightest shade! We have Cameo-- very fair for cold tones. Very fair? Are you kidding? That's a shade for people who are "very fair" but who have been in the direct sun for 5 hours. Not only is this shade super dark, it also has a red tint under it. Laura, please change your glass prescription-- you clearly cannot see right. Why am I actually annoyed? I am annoyed that, otherwise, this foundation is beautiful. And I want to wear it. But I can't do it without mixing it with another foundation. It is important that you set this foundation with powder-- LM works best, of course. It feels very light, and gives a beautiful fresh-dewy-satin finish. You will need 2 layers. It starts moving a bit after 10h of wear, but nothing dramatic, and you can "move" the foundation back into place without ruining and patching your face. However, this foundation is not for everyone. My mum, who has more mature, and more dry skin, did not like it. So, as always, try a tester first. But if you are pale, you will not find a matching shade here.
