Product review:
Kora Organics Turmeric Brightening and Exfoliatiating Mask ($48 for 100ml)
It has taken me a long time to review this product. Every time I tried it, I was left so undecided about it. So, what is it and what is inside? In a nutshell, it is "an invigorating 2-in-1 organic facial exfoliating mask formulated to revitalise, brighten and promote skin cell renewal. Certified Organic Turmeric, Papaya Enzymes, Aspen Bark, Peppermint and Rosehip Seeds deeply detox pores and refine tone and texture—leaving your skin glowing and healthy". The moment you put the mask on, the peppermint gives it a nice cooling feel. The mask is of yellow-brown colour, with grainy particles. The smell is turmeric-pepperminty. I personally have moved away from grain based physical exfoliation, as I believe that it damages the skin more than it does good. And unfortunately, I do believe that this mask is one of those that can damage the skin. The exfoliation effect is rather strong, so if you are not careful, you will end up ruining your skin. Hence, you should only use your pinky finger to massage it (pinky finger massage is the lightest). It is a good exfoliator, albeit dangerous if done as directed 2-3 times a week. I personally didn't see much of a brightening effect-- it was more an effect of clean skin. I cannot rave about this product, but I do not hate it either. Personally, if you are going to exfoliate your skin using such types of products, a lighter scrub is more advisable.
